United Way’s Women’s Leadership Circle is comprised of women leaders in the business community and responsible for raising funds for United Way of Northeast Georgia Endowment. One way they strive to do that is with funds raised at the third annual Holiday Market and Wreath Auction to be held December 3, 2008 at the new Trump’s Event Hall on S. Milledge Avenue. Between ticket sales, the silent auction, and the proceeds from Athens Magazine’s wreath auction, last year’s event raised $5,283.50 for the United Way’s Endowment.
The endowment fund is a permanent pool of capital that will ultimately remain intact with only the interest income used to provide resources for future community needs, in the following ways:
Grants to Basic Health and Human Service Initiatives
Critical New Initiatives
Community Disasters
Annual Campaign Shortage
Cover United Way Agency Allocations in an Unusually Difficult Year
Education of Basic Health and Human Services
Education for Supporting Health and Human Service Agencies
Improving the Quality of Life in the Community
Endowing Annual Campaign Gifts
Encourage Donors to Perpetuate their Gift to the Annual Campaign
The event is sponsored by Athens Magazine and will feature an auction of beautiful wreaths designed by various florists and artists from Athens. Belk is also sponsoring a showcase of their holiday fashions. Both the auction and fashion show will be announced by special guest auctioneer, Barbara Dooley. In addition, there will be a silent auction featuring a variety of holiday items perfect either to keep or to give as a gift. There will also be wine, as well as delicious hors d'oeuvres provided by Trump’s Catering and tickets are only $10.
