To benchmark the current community need and demonstrate sector impact, United Way of Northeast Georgia has developed an index to track progress in key focus areas: Early Childhood Success, Workforce Development, and Basic Needs. Each strategic impact area is comprised of key indicators.
For each impact area, a score based on the indicators is assigned to each county. We hope to achieve demonstrable county and regional impact as we strategically invest in these communities.
Index scores are on a scale of 0 to 100, where lower scores indicate higher need relative to other counties in the region. The overall regional scores are as follows:
Early Childhood Success indicators:
% Births with late or no prenatal care
% Low Birthweight
% Kindergarteners retained
% children 3-4 not attending preschool
% 3rd-grade ELA Proficient or Distinguished learners
Workforce Development indicators:
% Enrolled in postsecondary instituion 1 year after high school
% Received BA or higher by age 25
Youth 16-24 not in school and not working
Basic Needs indicators:
